Handmade watermelon for fancy dress

February 2014
Bangalore

Every parent is very excited when it comes to fancy dress of a there kid. Same I was this was the time when she has to recite a poem in front of all. Vartika is a very shy kid and also not very expressive in front of my people. She selected one poem which we all were confident she will be able to recite in front of her teachers.
Rhyme was
Watermelon watermelon….
Papaya, papaya….
Apple apple apple…
Apple apple apple…
Fruit salad Fruit salad
Short and beautiful rhyme.
So I decided to make the props for her so now my creativity started. How to make props so that they are handy as well as sturdy.
Since the rhyme contains watermelon, papaya and apple so need to make all the three insuch a way they look nice also. Now a day to reduce the plastic usage tissue paper bags is introduced in the market of different colors.
Material required
·         Red and green tissue paper bag
·         Sewing machine (can do with hand stich if you don’t have sewing machine).
·         Polyfill cotton
·         Sketch pen- black and dark green
Steps - to make water melon.
1.      First take the red color sheet and fold it from the middle and then make a semicircle and cut the sheet
2.      Then take green color sheet and make straight crescent shape.
3.      Now stitch both green and red piece to give a water melon piece shape.

Puzzle - 2000 pieces Landscape

2000 pieces jigsaw puzzle
June 2008 – July 2013
Bangalore

Kafi dino se ye puzzle mere pass tha 5 saal. Shaadi pe kafi gifts aaye the. Kuch gift voucher bhi mile the Gaurav ko. Gaurav mujhe bole ki voucher se kuch le lo… wo land mark ke the.

We were living in whitefield area after marriage and at that time there was no mall nearby and Landmark was in Forum Mall kormangala. And malls were new to me at that time. Kya loen samajh hi nahi aa raha tha. Tabhi meri nazar puzzles pe padi. Aur bachpan se hi mujhe puzzle banana me maza aata tha. Phir kya Gaurav ne 2000 piece ka puzzle le liye mere liya. Par jab I opened the box then I came to know the pieces are not only small but they are many. It will be my first experience with these puzzle and I got puzzle too how to make it. The dimension which was given was too big, and need a place where I can place the pieces and make it.

For some days went on separating the pieces took 4 bags and tired dividing left right top and bottom. It keep on going on and on and after that separated in all way which was good and easy. But it was not easy task.

Phir kya koi safe and badi jagha mil hi nahi rahi thi puzzle banana ke liye. Aur kuch mein office mein bhi busy ho gayi.
…….

After 5 year I again opened that box and this time we were in our new house with lots of space but now my challenge was to keep safe from vartika’s eye. As the pieces were very small and I can’t spare any piece to go off. So I found a place where I can make the puzzle as well as hide it when I am not working on it- carpet. I folded the carpet and in between the carpet I started 4th April 2013.

Now the challenge was at what time can make the puzzle. During that time vartika’s summer camp started. Got some time in morning hrs and during her afternoon nap time.

Initial days were very tough. . After separating pieces also I faced lots of problem… started with making the boarder. Slowly slowly it started taking the shape.

There was a day when I hardly able to join few pieces and a day when many pieces got fixed.  Toughest part was the sky as all the pieces color where same and can be place in any direction… slowly slowly the day came when it got over. 10th June 2013.

These are some pics I took while joining the pieces

Earthen Pot Painting

Pot Painting
Jan 2013 - Bangalore

Earthen pots are always attracted me. I had two  old earthen pot roaming here n there at home. During my pass time I will just go and browse on the net and see some new craft work or any art thing. While browsing I just typed earthen pot painting and saw some beautiful paint done on these pots so I decided to paint one of them, I took the bigger one and painted a base color chrome yellow and made some border line with blue then with red and followed by green and to make it a complete I added one more line of blue color. The pot was looking amazing and look totally changed. Then my creative mind want to do some more painting work and thought what to do next then added some white dots on it.

My one pot was done and was looking good but it was alone, so I painting the other pot in the same way as painted the bigger one and look how amazing they are looking together.

Interesting thing was when I showed these pots to my elder sister she was asked then to gift her. I am in Bangalore and she is in Delhi and I was traveling to Delhi this time by air. How to carry them in luggage was a big problem. Then I packed them very nicely with bubble wrap and place them in center of my suitcase and luckily they reached safely. When I gifted then to my sis she was very happy to see them. She then placed them nicely in her drawing room.

Material Required
  • Earthen pot two different size
  • arcylic colors
  • Brush- one - 6no. one-0 no.
Steps to paint
  1. Wet the earthen pot with water for some time and allow to dry for 5 min
  2. First paint the base coat, mix  good amount of base coat color and apply on full pot. If the paint is not smooth then apply another coat to blend properly. Use 6 no. brush or even more thicker
  3. Since the arcylic paint get dry very fast you need to be careful while mixing. Take small empty bottle of the paint and cover the paint when not in use.
  4. Apply the base coat inside the pot which is visible it will give a beautiful look
  5. Take navy blue color and apply on the rim of the pot with a thick boarder
  6. give some space and again apply navy blue with 0 no. brush and for symmetry you can first mark the circle with pencil.
  7. Next apply green with the same thickness and the blue.
  8. On third apply crimson red with double the thickness of green. And make white dots on red strip with equal distance.
  9. Again then apply green and then blue.
  10. Lastly on blue make very small small standing line in downward direction maintain equal distance.
Your beautiful pots are ready. They can be place any where in the house. can cover with flower or leave them as it is they will look beautiful.
